Modesty blocks (also known as joint blocks or furniture blocks) are specialized corner brackets used to connect two panels at a right angle. They are the industry-standard method for assembling kitchen cabinets, bedroom wardrobes, and office desks. By providing a solid “anchor point” for screws, they ensure that furniture remains rigid and square, even under the weight of heavy storage or constant use.
In modern interior design, exposed hardware can look untidy. These white modesty blocks feature a clever two-part design. Once the base is screwed into the corner of your unit, a matching white cover snaps firmly over the top. This hides the screw heads completely, resulting in a smooth, wipe-clean surface that matches standard UK white cabinetry.

Unlike metal brackets which can sometimes bend or rust in humid environments like kitchens and bathrooms, these plastic blocks are completely waterproof and offer slight “flex” to prevent the wood from splitting under tension.
For a rock-solid connection, we recommend using No. 6 or No. 8 wood screws. Simply align the block into the corner of your two panels, drive the screws through the pre-drilled holes, and snap the cover shut. This creates a permanent mechanical bond that is much stronger than using glue or nails alone, especially in particleboard or chipboard materials.
