A Universal Dry Ridge Kit is a modern, mechanical fixing system used to secure ridge tiles at the apex of a pitched roof. In the past, ridge tiles were held in place with sand and cement mortar, which often cracks and fails over time. This “dry fix” system uses stainless steel screws, clamping plates, and a ventilated ridge roll to create a secure, weatherproof, and long-lasting finish.
Since the update to BS 5534 regulations, mechanical fixing is now a requirement for all new and refurbished roofs in the UK. Our Dry Ridge System eliminates the mess and long-term maintenance associated with mortar. Because the tiles are screwed down rather than “glued,” they can withstand extreme wind speeds and natural building movement without cracking or falling.
One of the biggest killers of a roof structure is condensation. Our kit includes a 6m ventilated ridge roll with a high-performance butyl adhesive strip. This roll allows the roof void to “breathe,” providing 5,000mm²/m of continuous airflow. This prevents moisture buildup, protects your roof timbers from rot, and helps regulate home temperatures in line with BS 5250 guidelines.
